About Barbara Rowens
Making a positive impact on the lives of others is what has motivated me throughout my working life.
I spent a number of years as a guidance counselor, which afforded me extensive experience managing expectations and resolving difficult situations. As I considered retirement from the field of education, it was important to me to continue to work collaboratively with people—teaching, and listening. I decided to transition to an industry where I could continue to help people fulfill their potential. Becoming a financial advisor was a natural fit for me, and I enjoy helping clients set and meet their goals.
As a financial advisor, I think it’s imperative to simplify the complexity of financial planning and investment for my clients. I recognize how difficult this industry can be to understand and how emotional we can get over our financial situations. I believe I bring a unique perspective—as someone who has joined the industry as an “outsider.” I don’t presume my clients know every investment option, and I take the time to educate each client after listening to their goals. Providing my clients with a clear picture of their current finances, as well as a deeper understanding of the financial processes and products available today, enables them to make better decisions.
I care deeply about educating and empowering clients to take charge of their financial future, so together we can build a path to financial success.
About My Financial Advisor Practice
I serve clients throughout the greater Philadelphia area. I enjoy working with individuals and families at all stages of their lives, and I have a particular passion for helping individuals and couples who are going through a major, and potentially disruptive, life transition— such as retirement, divorce or a career move. I bring my own experience in changing careers; I understand how confusing and unsettling uncertainty can be, and I believe that having a solid financial plan in place can help minimize that uncertainty.
I am both a Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP®) and a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA™). Being a CDFA™ and a trained mediator allows me to help couples achieve a civilized, respectful and a more affordable divorce experience.
As an independent advisor, I have complete autonomy to help my clients with their financial decisions. Based on my 15 plus years of experience, I will give you the benefit of my knowledge of the industry and expertise in creating workable, sensible financial plans. And I have the guidance, resources and support of The Investment Center Inc. to back me up — a respected, long-standing firm in the industry.
How I Can Help You?
I spend a lot of time listening to my clients. I want to make sure I really understand you, your personality, your short and long-term goals and needs, as well as your comfort level with risk and your expectations for returns.
I also answer questions. I take my role as a financial educator seriously, and work hard to ensure that my clients are able to make well-informed financial decisions.
I view this relationship as a healthy professional partnership. I bring extensive financial experience and problem-solving capability, while my clients are the experts on their own lives and dreams. Working together is the best way to ensure that all of your financial goals can be achieved.
